Who lives in Windsor Castle?

Since Henry I, the Castle is the official residence of The Royals and is the house of Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen stays there 2 times a year. During Easter time (March-April) she invites the high-ranking fingers to the castle for “Dine and sleep”. The guests will have dinner with her over 160 seat table and will stay over at the castle for sleep.  People like overseas kings, queens, presidents or other politicians and officials from all over the world.

In June, she stays at Windsor Castle for a week when she is attending Royal Ascot. The Castle is also the workplace for the Royal family. Apart from having meetings with high figures and officials, she uses the castle as a private residency and spends weekends there.

Opening Hours

From March to October, the Castle is open every day from 10 am to 05.15 pm, but the last admission is at 4 pm. From November to end of February is open every day from 10 am to 04:15 pm and the last admission is at 3:00 pm. The Castle is closed on 11th and 12th October 25th and 26th of December.

Travelling from London Paddington via Slough. Here you have two choices with train lines to travel to Windsor. The train line from the Paddington train station ends at Windsor Central. However, from Waterloo station, the train ends at Windsor Riverside Station.

Journey time: 1 hour – 1 hour 30 minutes
